Africas Talking integrationAdd Africa’s Talking SMS to your WhatsApp flows
Reach customers by SMS when WhatsApp is not the right channel
Connect Africa’s Talking to Botbiz and send SMS from inside a chatbot flow. Use it as a fallback for contacts who are not on WhatsApp, for one-time codes, or for short alerts. Popular with businesses in Africa.
Hi Amara, your order #5120 is confirmed. We will also send a short SMS with the tracking number.
Thank you
Send an SMS when WhatsApp cannot deliver
If a template cannot be delivered because the number is not on WhatsApp, the flow can send the same information as an SMS through Africa’s Talking, so no customer is left without the update.
- Automatic fallback branch in the flow
- Message text adapted for SMS length
- Sent through your Africa’s Talking account
- Delivery result saved to the contact
Hi Amara, your delivery is scheduled for tomorrow between 10:00 and 13:00. Reply 1 to confirm or 2 to reschedule.

Send one-time codes and short alerts by SMS
Verification codes, appointment reminders and payment alerts can go out as SMS from the same flow that runs the WhatsApp conversation, with the contact’s details merged in.
- One-time codes from a flow step
- Reminders and alerts with contact details merged in
- Choose SMS or WhatsApp per step
- Keep the reply conversation on WhatsApp
Your verification code is 731 904. It expires in 10 minutes.

Collect and verify numbers in the conversation
Ask for a mobile number in chat, verify it with an SMS code through Africa’s Talking and save it to the contact. Useful when the WhatsApp number and the contact number differ.
- Number collected with a flow input step
- SMS verification before it is saved
- Stored as a custom field on the contact
- Available for segments and later messages
